Seeds ...

Amazing so much flavour you can get from these tiny seeds when toasted and grinded with chilies and mixed with turmeric to a warm yellow curry powder.

This is a corner view post. More tiny stuff here.

B is for Baking

I have been baking many sourdough breads since I got my starter from Murasaki at Samurai Viking Cuisine. Sometimes we have it for breakfast too with butter and some jam. Yum. I have also tried to bake breakfast muffins. I don't bake sweet things very often, but I did take a lot of photos of this batch :)

Before ...

I took this photo, the plate was full of brownies. Shortly after, the plate was empty. My mother was the fastest (as you may see if you move your cursor over the cake bite).

Corner view: What's for lunch

Open or closed sandwiches when we don't feel like spending time in the kitchen cooking warm meals ... and to follow, coffee, of course :)

Citrus

Last week I'd ordered some organic fruits and vegetables online. One item was lime (limas in Spanish) and I received these yellow ones you see on the first photo.

As I searched the internet for a recipe for orange marmelade (I had also bought some oranges) I came across this recipe on David Leibovitz' site which made me believe that those limes were bergamot lemons.

I really love twinings earl grey tea because of the bergamot taste, but I never realized that this flavour is of a kind of lemon. So I made lemon marmelade ... . Mine got a lot darker though than on the photos on David Leibovitz' site as I only had dark cane sugar. Those limes were definately of the bergamot type and the taste so good.

The orange marmelade will be for another day:)

On my kitchen counter

We cook at home a lot so it is not so often that our kitchen counter looks as on the top photo :)

This is a corner view post. Francesca of Fuoriborgo is the new host of Jane's Corner view so to see more kitchen counters around the world start here.

Artichokes ...

I have not yet convinced myself that I really like artichokes. I think they look very pretty and decorative and they are also supposed to be very healthy so last time I was at the market in Málaga I couldn't resist buying a kilo of them.

In 1080 Recipes I found a recipe that looked very simple:  More or less just peeling them, cooking them and sprinkling with an oil/vinegar dressing. The peeling part takes some practise, I must admit ... but I think I came closer to liking them a bit more :)

Have a great weekend.

Cooking ...

I like to try new recipes and this past week back in my own kitchen I have made Orangette's skillet carrots, Sopa de Castañas (Chestnut soup) from a recipe in The Moro Cookbook, and a banana bread from My New Roots, a.o. So this weekend I think I will eat out.

Have a great weekend.

Yellow and soup ...

These shots are from yesterday. In the morning I went for a walk in the park where I usually run to try to capture some of the beautiful autumn colors. It was cold, very cold, misty and a little sunny.
So a hot lentil soup with some spicy mixture to sprinkle on was perfect to get warm again. I used a recipe I found on a Danish blog kødfri fredag (meat free friday). What really made this soup was the sprinkle stuff of toasted mustard seeds, cumin seeds, chili flakes and chopped garlic.Yum!

Flowers, ice cream and

a ham sandwich, all in pink.

The flowers are gorgeous and I would have loved to pick some, the plum ice cream a bit too sweet to my taste (I'm not really an ice cream lover) and the ham with horseradish delicious.
