It´s very dry

and hot these days, but if I look closely I find tiny flowers and a not so tiny scorpion.

Have a great weekend.

Seeds ...

Amazing so much flavour you can get from these tiny seeds when toasted and grinded with chilies and mixed with turmeric to a warm yellow curry powder.

This is a corner view post. More tiny stuff here.

Homeplace

is this week's corner view theme. I think this print states it quite well :)

To me it doesn't matter so much where, except that I'm very happy with our latest move ... to a house in the country where I hope we will live for many many years. This leads me to think that it may be about time that I find a new name for this blog ...

More corner views about Homeplaces starting here.

PS: Clicking on the image takes to the blog where I found the print.

B is for Baking

I have been baking many sourdough breads since I got my starter from Murasaki at Samurai Viking Cuisine. Sometimes we have it for breakfast too with butter and some jam. Yum. I have also tried to bake breakfast muffins. I don't bake sweet things very often, but I did take a lot of photos of this batch :)

Early

The sun does not rise that early in these parts. This morning it got up about 7.20 am. I was up at 7.am taking these photos and getting ready for my run, because if I wait until later it will be to hot ...

Boxes

I don't know how many tricks I can find, but this week's corner view theme box of tricks was a nice occasion to get these out of my drawer ... and sometimes you may find small treasures you had almost forgotten about :)

Right now

these wild flowers are dominant around my house. The big white ones on the first photo are wild carrots, on the second you see chamomile and on the last one the bee is appproaching the flowers of a retama (I'm not sure what it is called in English.)

Have a wonderful week. See you next Monday as I will be away for the rest of this week.

Macho montés

Actually there were three of these mountain goats in front of our house, but two of them managed to jump over the fence towards the mountain. This last one was smaller and couldn't do it.

Have a nice weekend.

Corner view: What's for lunch

Open or closed sandwiches when we don't feel like spending time in the kitchen cooking warm meals ... and to follow, coffee, of course :)

More lunch suggestions around the world, starting here.

This Easter

has been cold and rainy. We did no go into town to see the processions, if there were any, because of the heavy rain showers.

The sky and the clouds have been very beautiful to watch though.

Citrus

Last week I'd ordered some organic fruits and vegetables online. One item was lime (limas in Spanish) and I received these yellow ones you see on the first photo.

As I searched the internet for a recipe for orange marmelade (I had also bought some oranges) I came across this recipe on David Leibovitz' site which made me believe that those limes were bergamot lemons.

I really love twinings earl grey tea because of the bergamot taste, but I never realized that this flavour is of a kind of lemon. So I made lemon marmelade ... . Mine got a lot darker though than on the photos on David Leibovitz' site as I only had dark cane sugar. Those limes were definately of the bergamot type and the taste so good.

The orange marmelade will be for another day:)

Home

There is a(n old) Danish proverb saying:
Ude godt, men hjemme bedst.
Wikiquote's
Translation: It's good to be out (and about), but at home is best.
Possible Interpretation: Seeing different things (cultures) is good, but we still prefer our own way of life.
Possible Interpretation: Can also be meant as a acknowledgement of you or someone else being homesick.

Time

The only reason for time is so that everything doesn't happen at once.

Albert Einstein

and I think it would be very sad if there were no seasons.

I have discovered lavenders, thyme, almond and olive trees on the land of our new home and a lot of wild spring flowers I don't know the names of ... yet. With time I hope to learn a lot more about all this.

I'm back

Packing done, internet installed ...

but I must admit that this very pretty Spring is distracting my unpacking :)
