Corner view Málaga: Places of reflection

This week's corner view theme is "places of worship ... or places of reflection. A place you can go and just be".

Well, in my corner we have Europe's largest Enlightenment Stupa - a buddhist monument for peace, prosperity and harmony and it's also a place for meditation.

By the stupa
Inside, the stupa has a 100 sq metre meditation room and a room for exhibitions.

By the stupa
The stupa symbolizes Buddha's enlightenment, the realisation of the nature of mind.

The building is 33 metres high.

I'm not a buddhist, but I have visited the place a few times - it is a very beautiful and tranquil place for reflection.

The stupa has its own homepage and there you can read o.a. that "stupas are normally closed monoliths, which believers circumbulate and express their wishes as being in front of Buddha himself. To absorb its beneficial influence into our lives it is recommmended to walk around the Stupa in a clock wise direction. Buddhists believe that wishes done near a Stupa may become true."

If you want to find out more, take a look at the stupa homepage.

Check out more Places of Reflection around the world. You find the links on Spain Daily.

Next wednesday the theme will be The unveiling, showing your true self ...
